Whether homesickness for the Shenandoah River or the souls desire to meet its creator, spiritual longing can come in many forms. Laudamus will explore the diverse ways these feelings can be expressed through music, including spirituals and hymns such as Deep River and Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal, as well as Felix Mendelssohn and GP da Palestrina’s settings of Psalm 42, “Like As the Hart.” Other classics will include René Clausen’s Set Me As a Seal and selections from Herbert Howells’ Requiem. Tickets are available at the door. Admission is $12 for adults; $9 for college students and seniors; 18 and under free. laudamus.org
